Good Beer + Good Times: Meghan + Greg’s Beer-themed Wedding At Nashville’s Yazoo

We reached out to their wedding planner, Mary Jo of Details by Margaret, because we had to know all about this surprisingly sophisticated wedding that was all about love and their love of beer!  What surprised us most was their ability to stick with Yazoo’s colors as their paette, host a wedding at a brewery and still keep it fabulously chic with great details.

Enjoy.

Meghan + Greg
Wedding Date: May 24, 2015
Ceremony + Reception Location:  Yazoo Brewery
Guest Count: 95

Tell us about the couple:

Meghan and Greg had dated for four years prior to getting engaged around Memorial Day 2014.  We met at their friend’s wedding in May of 2014.  They are a fun loving couple and are very in love.  They just recently moved to the West Coast.  The love for life and for each other that Meghan and Greg share is palpable upon first meeting them.  They are truly meant to be, and they share a passion for being outdoors, spending time with friends, music, good food, and beer!

Tell us about the couple’s vision:

Meghan and Greg wanted a simple, fun ceremony and reception that revolved around their family and friends as well as their love for good beer.  Meghan and Greg are just so laid back.  They didn’t want to wedding to feel stuffy or unlike them.

What was their theme and what inspired it:

Their theme was good beer and good times.  It was inspired by their love of socializing with family and friends over a delicious pint of beer.  Greg also likes to make his own beer on occasion, and he has been known to make some really good home brew.

What details were used to create their theme:

They decided to go with red and yellow as their central colors since the interior of the taproom at Yazoo is prominently red and yellow.  No point in messing with a good thing.  They had all the tables decorated with beer bottles filled with various flowers, including sunflowers and red gerbera daisies.  It was very earthy with pops of color.  Keeping it simple in the space was the perfect choice since the venue has so much character.  They just wanted to accent that character and dress it up a little so it had the feel of a wedding and not just a night of grabbing pints with friends.
Greg’s one very specific request was to include hops in boutonniere, which added a special touch in keeping with the beer theme.

Meghan and Greg also gave out beer that they made as their favors.  It was the perfect gift to go with the day, and the beer was really good! ☺
A nice way they included family and friends in their day, and for a wonderful keepsake, was by doing a photo guest book.  Guests took small Polaroid photos as they arrived, and later in the evening they would find their photos in the book (placed there by a couple of friends attending to the guest book table) and leave their message of congratulations for the happy couple.

Can you share any special moments or highlights of their wedding day:

The entire day was so much fun.  The touching speeches from their best man and maid of honor while Meghan and Greg were surrounded by friends and family were really meaningful.
Meghan and Greg, as well as their officiant, laughed through the entire ceremony, which was held on the lawn of Yazoo under the giant copper drum.  It showed off their personalities perfectly and that they weren’t stressed or worried about the day.  They just wanted to have fun and celebrate.  The smiles on their faces from the beginning of the day until the after-party ended were priceless.

Did they have any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome:

The only challenge of their wedding day was a seamless transition from ceremony to reception with the use of one sound system for both.  Otherwise, their choice of décor and the flow of their day was perfectly suited to them and to the venue, so it was a perfect day.
