Cara + Michael’s Quarry Engagement At Graystone Quarry By Smash Studios | Nashville Tennessee Engagements & Proposals

High school sweetheart stories get me every time! I love that Cara + Michael have known each other since they were in middle school – that's how you know you're in it for the longhaul. Their growing love shows in their engagement photos by Ashley of Smash Studios Photography. Plus, who doesn't love a rock quarry/waterfall engagement shoot – especially at Graystone Quarry? And… their dog is featured in the shoot as well! Cute! Check out all their photos below!

Cara + Michael

Engagement Session

Graystone Quarry

How did you get engaged?  Tell us about your proposal:

Cara: Michael and I have been together for 11 years, but wanted the time to be right to get married. I had just finished PTA school , and we went to Punta Cana to celebrate. Michael was “randomly” selected to do a dance off at the end of a Michael Jackson Tribute show. He asked for me to be his wife on front of hundreds of people including my sister and parents!

What’s your approach to wedding budgeting?

Cara: It was a team effort between my parents, my in-laws, and us to make our fairtale wedding come to life. It exceeded all of my expectations! I wish I could relive that whole day!

Who have you hired for your wedding team so far?

Cara: The Graystone crew were amazing! They decorated beautifully and worked with Enchanted Florist for our ceremony and reception arrangments. Chef Penelope did our catering which came with delicious appetizers and buffet style food that everyone raved about. Our DJ met with us, and had a personal website where we could pick out a playlist that had the whole reception on their feet! Smash Studios Photography and Luis Quitana did an amazong job documenting the whole day! I can't wait to see their work! We also had a 1954 tear drop trailer with props called Ottomatic Pix and the owner brought his French bull dog (Otto), and it was a huge hit! You must check it out! Our ceremony music for our wedding was performed by Deanna Loveland. First off, she is gorgeous inside and out. Second, she is a very talented artist that can sing, play the harp, and also the piano. And Joshua Hearing DJed our reception. Makeup for the wedding party was done by Amy McElroy and Liza Jo Makeup. Hair by Casey Bearden, Kendall Serles, and Kristian Miller. I cannot say enough good things about each of these vendors or our glam squad!

What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?

Cara: The wedding showers. Honestly, it has been so great seeing all of our friends and family come together to celebrate Michael and me. It has been a humbling process and has shown me how blessed we are!

What did you like most about your engagement session?

Cara: So many options for scenic backgrounds! Including a waterfall with a boat! Plus, our fur baby was allowed to join, and he had a blast running through the fields and rock quarry.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with NBG readers?

Cara: Michael is a one of a kind person. I have been in love with him since we had our first class together in sixth grade. I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet to be his wife! Plus, my parents and sister, Katie Fite, have gone above and beyond for us through this entire process. I'm so blessed to have such a close family, and even more blessed to gain another. Please, don't hesitate to ask me any questions! I would love to share!

From the photographer, Ashley of Smash Studios Photography: Cara and Michael are so fun to work with. After growing up and sharing classes together in middle school (Cara was in love with Michael the entire time, but couldn't tell him), he asked her out freshman year of high school- and the two have been together ever since! Since they spend a lot of time with their dog Axel, they included him in the engagement photos as well! Cara and Michael had a great engagement session at Graystone Quarry, which included a rowboat, their puppy, and a great sunset! All went well except it's quite a walk from one end of the quarry to another! Plus, getting a dog to look at the camera is NOT easy, lol!

Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful engagement session with us, Ashley! Be sure to check out Smash Studios Photography's portfolio on her website here and also be sure to follow her over on Instagram!
